Trailer air hoses are usually divided into two types, different in color and function:
Red hose (air supply hose) :
Connect to the "Supply Line" of the tractor.
Provides continuous compressed air to the trailer tank to maintain brake system pressure.
Blue hose (control hose) :
Connect to the "Control Line" (Control Line or Service Line) of the tractor.
The application and release of trailer braking is controlled by changes in air pressure (e.g. reducing air pressure to trigger braking when braking is applied).
Structure and material
Inner layer: Oil and corrosion resistant synthetic rubber (such as NBR nitrile butadiene rubber) to ensure compatibility with compressed air.
Reinforcement layer: High strength fiber or wire braided layer, withstand high pressure (usually working pressure of 100-150 psi).
Outer cover: Wear resistant, UV resistant rubber or polyurethane, suitable for outdoor environment.
Joints: Standardized metal joints (such as Gladhand joints) with sealing rings to prevent air leakage.

Main function
Transfer air: In a trailer brake system, the air hose is responsible for transferring compressed air from the tractor to the trailer, providing the necessary power to the brakes.
