1. Main components of grease
Base oil: 70% to 90%, determines the lubrication performance. Common types:
Mineral oil: economical and durable, suitable for general working conditions (such as lithium grease).
Synthetic oils (PAO, esters, etc.) : resistant to high and low temperatures, antioxidant, for use in extreme environments (e.g. silicone grease, fully synthetic grease).
Thickening agent: 5-20%, forming a gel structure. Common types:
Metal soap base (lithium, calcium, aluminum, etc.) : Lithium grease has strong versatility and calcium grease is resistant to water.
Non-soap base (bentonite, polyurea) : high temperature resistance or long life requirements.
Additives: Improve performance, such as anti-wear agents (molybdenum disulfide), anti-rust agents, antioxidants, etc.
2. Key performance indicators
Drop point: temperature resistance index (such as lithium grease drop point ≥180℃).
Cone penetration: Consistency classification (e.g. NLGI Class 2 for most bearings).
Extreme pressure (four-ball test) : If the heavy gear needs PB value > 600N.
Water resistance (ASTM D1264) : Calcium-based lipids and polyurea are excellent.

No complex sealing: The use of grease does not require complex sealing assembly and oil supply system, which greatly reduces the maintenance cost and complexity of the equipment.
Long service life: the application life of the grease is long, the number of oil supply is small, there is no need to increase often, and the maintenance frequency and cost are reduced.
Lubrication performance
High retention: The adhesion of grease gives it strong retention on conflict surfaces and can provide continuous lubrication under harsh conditions.
Oil film thickness: the oil film thickness of grease is thicker than that of lubricating oil, which can better isolate the friction surface and reduce wear.
Low conflict coefficient: The conflict coefficient (that is, the friction coefficient) of the grease is relatively low, which helps to reduce power consumption and improve energy efficiency.

Water resistance: The water resistance of the grease is outstanding, which can maintain the lubrication effect in a humid environment and prevent mechanical failure caused by water intrusion.
Sealability: grease has excellent sealability, which can prevent the intrusion of dust and other harmful substances and protect mechanical equipment from erosion.
Frost resistance: Some special greases also have good frost resistance and can work normally in low temperature environments to ensure the normal operation of equipment.
Versatility
Shock and noise reduction: grease has vibration reduction performance, which can reduce the noise and vibration generated during mechanical operation and improve the smooth operation of equipment.
Anti-corrosion and anti-rust: the grease contains anti-corrosion components, which can effectively prevent oxidation and rust on the metal surface and extend the service life of the equipment.
